Hello from Hanoi

We arrived in Hanoi on Saturday. It was Ben's first time in an airplane and he did very well. On Sunday, we met up with Dzung, a freshman student at Hendrix who is from Hanoi and had just come home for Christmas break. Dzung and his mother took us to the Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum, the Vietnamese Water Puppet Theatre and an incredible Vietnamese restaurant.

On Monday, we went on a boat tour of Halong Bay. Very long 3 hour bus ride, but beautiful when we finally arrived. Tuesday we walked around the Old Quarter of Hanoi and the big lake and we went to see the Hoa Lo prison museum on the site of the former Hanoi Hilton. Our interview with the U.S. Embassy was this afternoon, Wednesday. The visa should be ready to pick up on Thursday afternoon, and we leave Hanoi on Friday. Arrive in LA on Friday night. We will spend Friday and Saturday nights in LA and fly home on Sunday. Internet access is slow in Hanoi and we are unable to post on the benzie-wenzie site. My brother, Paul, is posting this for us. Hope to let you know that we have visa in hand tomorrow. We will post more pictures of Hanoi as soon as we can. Love to all.

Tricia, Rob and Ben
